"Waaa Waaaa Waaaaa!" Luna wailed loudly as she awakened Michael and August in the middle of the night for the umpteenth time that week.
"I'll be right back, baby," August sleepily said to Michael through a yawn.
"No--no, you stay here, sweetheart. I'll check on her. Get some rest, I know you're tired," he replied, as he placed his hand on her thigh to prevent her from leaving their bed.
"Thanks, baby," she mumbled as she turned back over and went to sleep.
When Michael arrived at Luna's room, he picked her up out of her crib and rocked her gently against his shoulder. "What's wrong, baby? Daddy is here," he cooed to her sweetly.
August had proved herself correct when she told Michael that Luna was a fiesty baby and would probably keep them up all night.
"I should have listened to your mother, you definitely are a feisty little one, but you get that from her," he teased.
As he comforted her, he took notice that she always stopped crying immediately anytime that he picked her up. "Haha, now that's daddies spoiled baby," he laughed.
As he closed his eyes, he remembered August's words to him from eight weeks ago: "Look at what all you have." The words echoed loudly in his head.
After so many years of hurt and pain, he heard an inner voice that said, "It's ok, Michael, it's time to move on. Your new world is here."
He then smiled to himself as he heard Luna coo and gurgle for the first time. "Wow! You sound so beautiful, angel." He expressed joyfully.
When Luna finally fell back asleep, he placed her gently inside of her crib.
"Have a good night, sweetie," he spoke tenderly, as he returned to his and August's room for some much-needed shut-eye of his own.
The next morning August awoke to Michael kissing her neck softly.
"Hmm... good morning, baby, and how are you today?" She said through a smile while stroking his back.
After letting out a deep sigh, he said, "I'm frustrated... I miss making love to you August, is it safe for us to--"
August cut Michael off mid-sentence when she pushed him onto his back and straddled him. "I was going to surprise you tonight, but I think we can manage that now," she said seductively.
After they made love twice in a row, Michael held her in his arms as he stroked her hair lightly. Neither spoke for a long time and were content lying peacefully in each other's arms until Michael broke their silence.
"I have a surprise for you, baby!"
"Oooh, what is it, sweetie?" She asked curiously.
"You'll find out later, just be ready by 3 pm" He instructed firmly, as he pulled her closer and kissed her passionately on the lips.
When 3 pm arrived, August went down to the living room. Michael had already taken Luna with him earlier so that she could get ready easier.
"Surprise!" A small group of people shouted when August came into the room.
"Omg! What's going on, Michael?" August exclaimed in total shock as she took in the exquisite party decor and gifts.
"Well, sweetie, you never did have a baby shower. So much was going on at that time, and we completely forgot about it," Michael replied while taking hold of her hand.
"Awww, but you didn't have to do this!" She cried out.
"But I wanted to sweetheart. I know it's way late, but you deserve it."
"Thanks, baby... I love you," she replied while crushing her lips to his softly."
"Oh, Stop it! Or baby number two will be on the way soon," Elizabeth Taylor quipped, as she handed Luna to August.
"Well... that's not entirely out of the question yet, Liz," August retorted back playfully.
"You two most certainly did make a beautiful baby; I'm sure Michael wouldn't mind having another." Liz chimed.
"He's slowly breaking me down," August replied as she smiled brightly. Even though she wanted to wait a little while longer, August was slowly changing her mind about having another baby so soon, but only time would tell.
"Attention, can everyone gather over here for a moment?" Michael announced as he waved the guest over to a white sheet that covered a large object standing in the corner.
Michael had only invited a tiny group of their family and friends to the baby shower. He wanted to keep the gathering small and imitate. He thought that it would be more special with the people that were closest to them.
"Do you remember that picture that I took of you on the beach in Maldives?"
"Yes, Michael, I do, and how could I forget? Our honeymoon was amazing!"
Michael asked August to sit down as he unveiled the massive photo of her sitting on the beach in Maldives while she was still pregnant with Luna. In the photo, she was holding her stomach and smiling down at it; while being surrounded by the sparkling blue lights phenomenon.
"Wow! It's so beautiful, Michael. Thank you and Aww... that's you, baby girl, inside of mommy's tummy," she sing-songed to Luna, as she held her warmly in her arms.
"I'm glad you like it, baby, it's the most beautiful picture in the world to me," he exclaimed as he sat down next to her on the sofa.
"I think Luna needs a baby brother," he whispered into her ear.
"Hmm, so you wanna shut this party down early, Mr. Jackson?"
"Yes, I don't mind if we do Mrs. Jackson... We need to get started right away; earlier was just a practice run."
