Chapter 4

"Hello?" Sparkle answered nonchalantly.
"Hi, May I speak to Ms. Washington." He asked softly.
"This is she, how may I help you?"
"Hi, this is Michael Jackson. I received the non-disclosure forms from you a few days ago. Thanks for getting those back to me quickly." He said cheerfully.
At first, Sparkle didn't believe it was the real Michael Jackson on the phone, but when he immediately mentioned the forms, she knew it was him.
"Oh-- I'm happy to hear that, Mr. Jackson."
   "Please... call me Michael."
"Sure! But only if you call me Sparkle," she laughed softly.
"Yes, I can do that." he chuckled deep, catching her off her guard."
"Oh My... What a sexy laugh he has." she thought to herself as she tried to regain her composer.
"Your name is beautiful! How did you get it?" He innocently inquired.
"Gee! I don't know? I mean... My parents named me but good question!" She exclaimed.
"Oh, I'm sorry-- I didn't mean to put you on the spot."
"It's okay Michael, this is a great question for me to ask my mom," she said, as they both laughed simultaneously.
Taking in the sound of her voice, he thought, "Damn! She sounds sexy as hell... I wonder what she looks like?" Shaking his head sideways, Michael quickly redirected his thoughts back to the main reason for his call.
"You're probably wondering why I called, but umm-- I just wanted to say thank-you for letting me volunteer at your community center tomorrow."
"No thanks are needed, Michael; we are so grateful for all you have done already. That five million dollar check that you wrote to us was more than enough," she expressed happily.
Clearing his throat, Michael asked, 'if there were any children that belonged to the community center?'
"Oh, yes! Our facility caters to both children and adults. The kids that attend our center range in ages from five to seventeen years old." She informed him.
"Is it possible for me to donate some Christmas toys and gifts to the children?"
"Of course you can! But you have given us so much already. Are you sure?"
"Yes! Being able to make a child happy on Christmas morning means a lot to me." He replied warmly.
During their conversation, Sparkle felt as though the preconceived notions she held about celebrities, didn't quite apply to him. But she still had her reservations.
"Well... I better let you go, we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow." He said as a small yawn escaped his lips.
"Yes, Michael, We do! I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you."
"I'm looking forward to it as well! Have a good night, Sparkle."
"Thanks, Michael! You have a good night, too, and I'll see you tomorrow morning."

Thanksgiving Day 1991

"How many more minutes till we're there"?  Michael asked nervously as he bounced his leg up and down.
"We should reach the center in about 5 minutes. Is everything OK?" Bill asked concernedly.
"Yes... Everything is fine. I was just wondering, that's all!" He replied hastily while adjusting his curls.
On the ride over to the center, Michael had become increasingly nervous, "What If I drop the food? Or Sparkle doesn't like me?" He thought silently to himself.
When they finally arrived at the center, Michael let out a heavy sigh and whispered, "Showtime!" as his security team led him inside of the building.
"Listen up, everyone! Mr. Jackson is on his way. Please remember to be respectful, kind, and courteous to him. I think it's pretty awesome that he has taken the time out of his busy schedule to help us today. Even someone as great as he still finds the time to give back to those in need. So, let this be a reminder that we can all serve.
In the words of the late and great Dr. King:
"Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
Michael stood silently outside the doorway as he overheard Sparkle talking. He instantly recognized her voice from the phone and smiled to himself. Not wanting to disrupt her, he waited until she was done speaking before entering the room.
"OK, everyone... Please head off to the kitchen! We have a lot of work to do. If anyone needs me, I'll be in here, but I'll be joining you all shortly."
Once everyone left for the kitchen, Michael saw this as the perfect time to introduce himself privately. As he entered the room quietly, his eyes roamed over her entire backside.
"Wow! She has a nice ass." He thought silently to himself as he watched her bend over the counter to retrieve her cellphone.
"Hello, are you Sparkle?" He asked politely.
"Why, yes... Yes, I am," she replied shakily as she jumped and turned around at the sound of his voice.
"It's so nice to meet you, Sparkle; I'm Michael Jackson. How are you?"
"Startled...and nice to meet you too, Mr. Jacks-- I mean Michael." She answered while reaching to shake his hand.
As he took her hand in his, he gazed into her eyes softly, feeling completely transfixed by her natural beauty.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you," he said apologetically.
"It's alright Michael, I shouldn't be so jumpy," She chuckled.
"No... no! I shouldn't have snuck up on you like that," He said tenderly, not realizing he was still holding her hand.
Feeling as though she was becoming a little too lax with him, she quickly removed her hand from his. Clearing her throat, she resumed speaking in a more professional tone.
"Ahem... So, Thank-you once again for joining us, Michael. Please follow me into the kitchen so that I can introduce you to the rest of the team."
As Michael followed closely behind her, he licked his lips slowly, fully appreciating the view of her hips as they swung from side to side.
"Excuse me, please... Attention everyone! If you all could please stop what you're doing for a  few seconds, I'd like to introduce you all to Mr. Michael Jackson." She announced cheerfully.
As the volunteers erupted into a chorus of cheers, Michael politely introduced himself.
"Hello, everyone, thank you for allowing me to join you today," he expressed happily while shying his face away from the small group.
Noticing that the extra attention was making him a bit shyer, Sparkle took control of the situation quickly.
"OK, People! back to work! There will be plenty of time to chat with Michael later, but for now, we have a lot of work to do." She yelped abruptly.
As the volunteers dispersed, Sparkle motioned Michael over towards her, "We need to get you into this," she chimed, while extending an apron towards him.
"I've never worn one of these before."  he giggled while bending his head down, so that sparkle could slip it over him.
"Umm, Michael... did you really need me to put this on you?" She laughed.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know that I was supposed to put it on myself." He said, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"It's OK, Michael... and there is a first time for everything!" She quipped as she motioned for him to turn around so that she could tie the apron closed in the back.
