Michael Jackson's "Thriller" re-enters the Billboard 200 Albums chart at #7!

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

Congratulations, King! This great achievement for your incredible dedication, love for your craft, and hard work is well deserved! We love you, Michael! Yes! All the streaming, buying, and promoting of Thriller40 by us, the MJ fam, has helped get Michael to the #7 spot on this week's Billboard 200 Albums chart! As many of you all know or may have even participated in, there were many streaming parties (hosted on the StationHead and Renaissance Apps by The Thriller Challenge team and various MJ fans) to get both the single, Thriller—and the Thriller40 album to the top of the charts! For a 40-year-old album to snag the #7 slot (which is Michael's favorite number, btw) is an amazing feat! When Thriller made its official debut on November 30th,1982, it spent a whopping 37 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboards 200 Albums chart between 1983 to 1984! And technically, had Thriller25 (released in 2008) been allowed to chart, the album could have also placed high on the charts. However, Billboard considered Thriller25 a legacy release, and it only peaked on the "Pop Catalog Charts." So, due to that technicality (rule), this marks the album's first appearance in the top 10 since June 1984! Also, per Billboard, Michael Jackson's Thriller is this week's 2nd top-selling album in pure sales—and top-selling for vinyl albums! In closing, let's give it up for the above adorable pic of Michael (located at the top of this article) while working on the Thriller album. The non-cropped picture and others can be found inside the Thriller 40 album!)
