The following was originally posted in my "about me" type book on Wattpad.
This is going to be so dull, but I would like to share a little about myself as to burst the bubble of mystery that surrounds me.
(Well, not completely dull. I hope that you all will find the MJ parts a bit intriguing.)
Well, first things first - I'm old. I'm 30+ years old, and to some readers on here, I might be viewed as ancient! Granted, I don't think I'm old, nor do I feel old, but I'm mentally old. I've been through a lot in life, ya'll! Oh, the stories I could tell. I'm actually surprised that I turned out quite positive and sane (depending on who you ask.)
As most of you probably know, I'm a major Michael Jackson Fan! I've loved the man since I first laid eyes on him at two years old.
Fun fact about me: I grew up extraordinarily bowlegged. I had to stand on a board so that my legs could straighten out. So, due to this, I wasn't trying to walk. I crawled for a long time. And as legend would tell it, aka "my family," the first time that I saw Mr. Michael Jackson's gorgeous face on television, I stood up - and wobbled my little ass over to our floor model T.V. as fast as my short legs could carry me so that I could watch him perform.
Michael has just always been around to me. I have very fond memories of my family playing Mike's music and loving him, but sadly, I also have family members I haven't spoken to since 1993, and y'all know precisely why. Seriously, at family functions, I look at them, and they look at me - we say nothing to each other. But on the bright side, my little sisters and brothers, most of my little cousins, and a few kids I've helped raise - love Michael as well, and that makes me happy.
I also love attending many Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and Jackson's events. I'm probably the fan you're most likely to meet. I travel for Jackson events near and far when money allows, and due to this, I have met some charming fans over the years who are like my extended family. I've traveled and spent great times with good MJ Fam overseas and in the United States - and they've visited me as well. Basically, I'm likely to pop up anywhere. Haha! I also love having MJ "Girls weekend" with my close pals (Pre-COVID), of course.
I've also had the pleasure of meeting folks that Michael has worked with. And though Michael had a lot of snakes around him, some of the people he worked with for years were also very sweet (least the ones I've met.) I can see why Michael loved them - they are lovely people.
Back in 2001 and 2004, I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Jackson in the flesh. I attended the "United We Stand" benefit concert, and I chased Michael around Washington, D.C. when he accepted an award at the Ethiopian Embassy - and when he visited The U.S. Capitol building. Although I didn't get to meet him, I'll forever treasure those moments of waving to him and seeing my life flash before my eyes as I ran up to his SUV. Lol! And yes! He was absolutely gorgeous! I'm surprised I didn't faint. He's beautiful on TV and in pictures, but even more so in real life. He had such a glow and an amazing aura.
Listen, I couldn't have been a follower fan y'all. I don't know how they did it. But those times with other fans were amazing and hilarious. I won't write about that whole experience cos it's probably boring, but when Michael came down the street, all of us fans were looking in the wrong direction. He and Grace waved us over to the SUV. And after that, madness ensued, but it was great. However, he was going through the most at that time (y'all know why). But despite it all, he appeared to be in good spirits. He was such a strong and graceful man.
Seeing Michael perform live was incredible! I just wish it were under different circumstances. The "United We Stand Concert" was a benefit concert for 9/11 victims. Again, I would tell of my experience, but it was such a long day. Michael didn't come on the stage until almost midnight, but that wasn't his fault. Every music artist/group chose to bring their own band, so set-up and take-down between acts took up a lot of time. But, I will say this, seeing him live and in the flesh was magical! Whether I was just a mere 5 feet away from him or in the middle of a packed stadium filled with thousands of people, I could feel how strong, sweet, and gentle his spirit was/is. Sorry, you'll have to excuse me. I don't always like referring to Michael in the past tense because he's very much still alive in my heart.
Now, as far as the other things I'm into besides Michael Jackson. I adore music! I have a bachelor's degree in music, and I'm taking recording engineer classes. Ever since I was a little girl, music has captivated me. I remember sitting by the stereo as a toddler and singing with my daddy along to the songs playing from our floor model Record-player/Cassette Sound System. If you're an 80s or 90's baby, you know precisely the stereo I'm talking about! Most family homes had one! Lol.
As far as what I do for a living, I'm a music cataloger. I won't go entirely into what that is, but basically, I get to work with lots of music scores and some vintage works! There's nothing like touching the pages of a rare piece by the fantastic composer, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky!
After work, I teach an array of dance classes, but sadly, at the moment, I'm not teaching due to COVID. I've been a dance instructor for the past 15 years, and it's something that I love doing. Even while in lockdown, I've been creating new dance routines for my students - I miss them terribly.
And last but not least, I love reading and writing! Romance and Erotic-Romance are my favorites to read! Also, I love to read non-fiction (how-to books), positive thinking, and theological/spiritual type books. I'm always looking for ways on how to improve myself in many areas of my life and keep my spirit happy. So, as far as writing goes - I'm a hopeless romantic. Yes, though I have a very sweet man that loves me to pieces, and I love him as well, I'm still just a sucker for fluffy and hot-steamy romances with a bit of drama. But, let it be known, Michael Jackson was my first boyfriend and is my spiritual husband; I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't write down my fantasies about him.
Please note: My man is a Michael Jackson fan as well! We actually met because of Michael, which is a hilarious story within itself that I will spare you all. We have a contract! If Michael ever wanted to take me back to Neverland in real life, I'm going - no questions asked.
But back to the stories! There has to be sex and lovemaking... Sorry, it is what it is, and it's what I like. So, it's only natural for me to write those types of stories. Adult Contemporary Romance and Erotic-Romance are my absolute favorite genres!
For the next chapter of this complete snooze fest of a book, I will explain more about how and why I love writing Romance/Erotic-Romance and why I prefer to call my Michael Jackson Fanfiction Books - "MJ Romance Novels." Albeit, I don't know when I'll post that chapter because right now, I'm in the midst of writing a new MJ short-story titled; "Law and Lust." It won't be too short, though! I'm currently writing chapter 10. (update: this story is now completed.)
I hope all are well, and thanks to the one person who chose to read this... Or none. Haha!
P. S. "It's ok if you stopped reading after I told about my experiences seeing Michael."
(In the closing photo, that's my souvenir ticket for "This Is It." I also received a copy of Michael's memorial book - I had bought tickets for two shows. One of the saddest trips I ever made was after Michael's passing, and I traveled to London to write my name on Michael's memorial wall outside of the O2 arena - and met up with fellow fans from Brazil via MJJForum, where I was a news team writer and moderator. The other pic is me flashing the peace symbol at "MJOne" in Vegas, and the middle is me on my way to see an MJ cover band.)
In closing, camera phones were trash in those days (2004 when I saw Michael), so all I have are my memories. However, here's a picture from the day that I saw him (This is not my picture of course.)
Blessings,
Midnight. ❤🌛
Reading this again.
You're sooo lucky to have been able to see him in the flesh.
I know you cherish these memories forever 💜
OMG, I love this so much!! Thank you for sharing, it is wonderful! It is just amazing how you were able to literally see him. Love the way you wrote it!
