Just like that, unfortunate day 17 years ago, June 25th, falls on a Thursday—the anniversary of our beloved Michael Jackson's passing. Today is a beautiful day on the East Coast, where I reside, reminding me of the day we lost one of the sweetest, kindest, and gentlest souls. This day never gets easier. Not a day goes by that I don't think of or miss Michael.
With the release of the "Michael" biopic this year, many people have rediscovered (and newly discovered) Michael Jackson's music. It’s heartwarming to see this renewed and new interest after years of pain and unfair treatment he endured at the hands of malicious individuals and certain media outlets. There has also been a notable shift; even before the biopic's release, many began researching Michael and uncovering the truth—that he was, and still is, innocent. Throughout the years, it has been disheartening to witness his mistreatment, especially when his true intent was to spread love and joy. Now, many members of the general public are starting to understand this as well.
I believe that people are reconnecting with Michael because they miss his light, his essence, and, of course, his amazing gifts and talents. Michael was a good person, and people connected with that. His very being and energy continue to inspire. And though my heart is heavy today, I will celebrate Michael. I'll be playing his music all day while I work from home. Normally, I take the day off, but I couldn't get out of it today. I'll also have his concerts playing in the background. Later, when I finish work, I'll head to the movie theater to watch the "Michael Movie" for the 15th time.
P.S. This blog started very differently. I initially intended to write about my experience on June 25th. However, as I began to write, I found myself guided elsewhere. In closing, I would like to share some pictures of the personal flowers I sent to Michael at Forest Lawn, his resting place. These flowers stand alongside the many beautiful expressions of love from his fans around the world. I am sending all my love and many hugs to Michael, his family, and his fan family (community) today, forever, and always.
Rest in Paradise, Michael.❤️👑🕊️
